JUBILEE SOUTH in Latin America and the Caribbean, extends an open invitation to friends, partners, and interested organizations from around the world, to join us in Porto Alegre, Brazil, in the workshops we are hosting in conjunction with the WORLD SOCIAL FORUM. Program information for the four days of our activities (26-29 January) is detailed below. Information on the precise location of the workshops, will be available upon arrival in Porto Alegre, at the World Social Forum Secretariat at the Catholic University (site of the Forum). The address there is Av. Ipiranga 6681. Nations, Ecuador *Ethical Tribunal on Debt and Adjustmen - Dialogue 2000, Argentina +Analysis of advances and challenges. +Presentation of regional/global experiences and proposals, beginning with: *Dakar 2000 towards an African Peoples' Consensus - CONGAD/Sénégal *Asian Network on Debt and Development *Global Action for the Annulment of Illegitimate Debt-Jubilee South *Southern Peoples' Ecological Debt Creditors Alliance +Debate around coordination of goals, strategies and action plans.

Objectives: +Analyze together the causes and impacts of the processes of financial and ecological indebtedness, in the context of neoliberal globalization +Analyze in particular, the probable impact of regional and sub-regional agreements to create free trade areas. +Disseminate information on the global campaigns against Illegitimate Debt and for the recognition of Ecological and other forms of Social Debt +Contribute elements and build consensus around the design and implementation of these campaigns. Objetives: +Advance in the elaboration of a common strategy and action plan at the regional level, in the framework of the global campaign against illegitimate dbt and for the recognition of social and ecologial debts. +Identify the key areas of endeavor and actions for the period 2001/2 +Contribute to the strengthening and coordination of local, national and sub-regional initiatives for the holding of ethical and popular Tribunals on Debt, Adjustment, Globalization and Social and Ecological Debt. +Elaborate concrete proposals for improving intercommunication and coodination at a contnental level, in a framework of growing articulation and coordination with other networks and initiatives of resistence and alternatives. Program: On the basis of discussions on the 26 and 27, work in commissions around specific aspects and then in plenary, to define common strategy and action plans for the coordination of continental campaigns over the next two years. Among the potential topics to be discussed: *Ethical and popular Tribunals *Popular Consultations, referendums, and Plebiscites *Public Audits of the External, Social and Ecological Debts *Recognition and reparations of Social and ecological Debts *External Debt, Ecological Debt and theFree Trade Ares of the Americas FTAA *Action in international fora (UN, OAS, IMF, WB,etc.) *Strategies for dissemination, consciousness building and popular education
